HATAY - The Silk Weaving Course, implemented through the collaboration of Antakya Municipality, Nedime Keser Public Education Centre and Tohumluk Foundation, was successfully completed with a certificate ceremony held on 18 June.
Under the guidance of master craftswoman and instructor Mucibe Oruç, participants received both theoretical and practical training in the traditional art of silk weaving. Throughout the programme, they developed valuable skills that contribute to preserving and passing on this important element of Türkiye’s cultural heritage.
Volunteers from Tohumluk Foundation’s Hatay Provincial Group also actively participated in the programme, gaining first-hand knowledge and practical experience in traditional silk weaving techniques.
At the closing ceremony, participants were presented with certificates of achievement in recognition of their dedication and successful completion of the course. To further support their learning journey, Tohumluk Foundation presented each participant with a Weaving Handbook, providing a lasting educational resource for future practice.
We extend our sincere gratitude to Mucibe Oruç for generously sharing her expertise, to all participants for their enthusiasm and commitment, to our Hatay volunteers for their valuable contribution, and to Antakya Municipality and Nedime Keser Public Education Centre for their support in making this meaningful project possible.
Together, by creating, learning and preserving our traditional crafts, we continue to strengthen the cultural heritage that connects generations and inspires the future.
