We are building bridges between rural and urban areas.
Tohumluk Social Solidarity, Education, Culture and Arts Foundation is a non-governmental organization that aims to reach all segments of society living in rural areas with hopeful projects for the future of Turkey. Established in 2020, the foundation has made significant contributions to the lives of thousands of people through important projects in the fields of education, culture, art, and social solidarity since its inception. The foundation's main goal is to build bridges between rural and urban areas, offering more opportunities and resources to people living in rural areas.
ABOUT US

Mission
Tohumluk Foundation contributes to rural development and social cohesion by creating projects that strengthen the connections between rural and urban communities, as well as between the past and the present. Guided by the belief that people in rural and urban communities can learn from one another, the Foundation develops initiatives in education, culture, arts, science and sports, delivering them directly or through community solidarity and collaborative partnerships.
Our work is driven by a commitment to finding sustainable, value-based solutions to the challenges facing both Türkiye and the wider world. By bringing together knowledge, experience and cultural heritage from different communities, we aim to create lasting opportunities for future generations.
Vision
Tohumluk Foundation aspires to become an internationally recognized model for strengthening the connection between rural and urban communities. Inspired by the dandelion—the symbol of our Foundation—which releases its seeds to the wind and reaches places far beyond where it first takes root, we seek to spread the seeds of education, culture, arts, science and sports throughout Türkiye.
By nurturing ideas, opportunities and collaboration, we aim to inspire lasting social impact and demonstrate how knowledge, creativity and shared values can bring communities together across generations and geographies.

OUR STORY
Rooted in Anatolia. Growing Together Across Communities.
Tohumluk Foundation was established in 2020 with a simple yet powerful belief: a nation cannot truly flourish unless its rural communities flourish as well. We believe that lasting development is possible only when every individual—regardless of where they live—has access to opportunities for learning, creativity, participation and production.
Our name reflects this philosophy. In Turkish, tohumluk refers to seeds carefully preserved for future planting. They are not consumed today because they represent tomorrow’s harvest. Inspired by this idea, we invest in people, ideas and communities—planting seeds that will grow into lasting social impact.
At the heart of our work lies another guiding principle: "Rural and urban communities have much to learn from one another."
We do not see rural and urban life as opposing worlds. Instead, we believe they complement one another. Rural communities preserve invaluable knowledge of nature, production, craftsmanship and cultural heritage, while cities offer opportunities in education, science, technology and innovation. When these strengths come together, they create stronger, more resilient communities and a more sustainable future.
For this reason, Tohumluk Foundation builds bridges—not only between rural and urban communities, but also between generations, institutions and disciplines. We bring together volunteers, educators, artists, researchers, entrepreneurs, local governments, universities, public institutions and civil society organizations around a shared purpose: creating opportunities that enable communities to learn, grow and thrive together.
Our work spans education, arts and culture, science, sports, sustainable production, social entrepreneurship, environmental awareness and community development. Rather than providing short-term solutions, we focus on strengthening local capacity, encouraging collaboration and supporting projects that continue to create value long after they begin.
The Dandelion Philosophy
The dandelion is the symbol of Tohumluk Foundation because it perfectly represents our vision. Its seeds travel great distances, carried only by the wind, taking root wherever conditions allow. Even in the most challenging environments, they have the resilience to grow and flourish.
We believe meaningful ideas spread in the same way.
A single educational opportunity can transform a child’s future.
A theatre performance can strengthen an entire community.
A workshop can inspire a young entrepreneur.
A restored tradition can create new economic opportunities.
A volunteer can change hundreds of lives.
Every project we develop is a seed carried forward by the people whose lives it touches.
How We Create Impact
Our approach is based on partnership rather than charity.
Instead of working for communities, we work with them.
We listen before we act.
We value local knowledge alongside academic expertise.
We encourage collaboration instead of dependency.
We believe that sustainable development grows from participation, shared responsibility and mutual learning.
Through this approach, our projects connect rural producers with new markets, support children’s access to education and arts, strengthen cultural heritage, promote environmental awareness, encourage social entrepreneurship, expand opportunities for women and young people, and create lasting partnerships among communities, universities, public institutions and civil society organizations.
Looking Ahead
The challenges facing our world—from climate change and food security to social inequality and the future of education—cannot be solved by a single institution or a single community.
They require cooperation.
They require trust.
They require people who are willing to learn from one another.
This is the future we are working toward.
As Tohumluk Foundation continues to grow, we remain committed to connecting people, sharing knowledge, preserving cultural heritage and creating opportunities that empower future generations.
Like the dandelion, we believe that even the smallest seed, when carried with purpose, can grow into something far greater than itself.
