Halaçlı Health Gatherings: Coming Together to Talk About Breast Health
ANKARA - At Tohumluk Foundation, we continue strengthening the bridges we build between urban and rural communities through health awareness initiatives. On Saturday, November 7, 2026, we met with local women at the Halaçlı Neighborhood Head’s Office in Ankara’s Gölbaşı district. As part of our Halaçlı Health Gatherings, General Surgery Specialist Prof. Betül Bozkurt joined us for a discussion on breast health and breast cancer awareness.
Continuing the awareness efforts associated with Breast Cancer Awareness Month into November, the session covered the importance of early detection, ways to maintain breast health, and regular checkups. Participants had the opportunity to receive information directly from a specialist and share their questions.
The question-and-answer session following Prof. Betül Bozkurt’s presentation was an important part of the gathering. Women asked questions directly and explored the topics in greater detail. This exchange created a space where health concerns could be discussed openly and participants could learn together.
The event was attended by our Health Committee Chair, Dr. Serap Bilen; Communications Committee Chair and Health Committee member, Prof. Sühan Ayhan; Resource Development Committee Chair, Müjgan Köse; Sports Committee Chair, İbrahim Girgin, and his wife; and Project Management Committee Chair and Ankara Provincial Secretary, Gül Aran. Guests and women community leaders from the village also joined us.
For us, building bridges between urban and rural communities also means sharing knowledge and experience locally. We value opportunities for women to meet health professionals in their own communities, voice their questions, and participate in activities that support health awareness. Our gathering at the Halaçlı Neighborhood Head’s Office demonstrated how local spaces can host initiatives that contribute to community life.
We thank Prof. Betül Bozkurt for sharing her knowledge and experience, the Halaçlı Neighborhood Head’s Office for hosting us, our committee representatives for their contributions, and all the women whose participation made the gathering meaningful.
At Tohumluk Foundation, we continue sharing health information, listening to women’s questions and needs, and strengthening solidarity between urban and rural communities.
