The Spirit of Mobilization Came Alive Once Again in Halaçlı
Organized in collaboration between the Tohumluk Foundation and Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, the Halaçlı Mehmet Ağa Mansion Mobilization Gathering was held on Sunday, September 13, marking the 105th anniversary of the Sakarya Victory, and brought together approximately 100 participants.
At the heart of the gathering, hosted by the historic Halaçlı Mehmet Ağa Mansion, was Halaçlı Mobilization Bread (Halaçlı Seferberlik Ekmeği), carrying the culture of solidarity and sharing from the past into the present. Revived through the efforts of the Tohumluk Foundation, this traditional bread is now produced through the labor of local women in Halaçlı, helping preserve an important element of cultural heritage while also supporting women’s work and local production.
The day began with a traditional village breakfast prepared by the Halaçlı Village Women’s Labor Social Enterprise Group. Halaçlı Mobilization Bread and locally made products prepared by the women were also offered for sale to visitors.
Bringing culture, art and nature together, the program featured Yavuz Bozkurt’s live painting performance, the “Nature’s Little Heroes on Duty” activity by the Leave No One Behind Sustainability Association, a photography exhibition by students of Tulumtaş Primary School, and a concert by the Ankara City Orchestra Trio. The participation of the Ankara Motorcycle Group added another special dimension to the day.
Held on the anniversary of the Sakarya Victory, the gathering offered an opportunity to remember the spirit of mobilization through the values of solidarity, collective effort and sharing—values that have endured from the years of the War of Independence to the present day.
