Sharing Tohumluk Foundation’s Work and Halaçlı Initiatives with VEKAM
ANKARA - On October 20, 2026, Tohumluk Foundation’s Ankara team visited Koç University’s Vehbi Koç Ankara Studies Research Center (VEKAM). Our Ankara Deputy Provincial Representative Murat Berkyürek, Gül Aran, and Emel Saral attended the meeting at the vineyard house in Keçiören.
VEKAM is a multidisciplinary research center conducting academic research into the social, economic, cultural, and urban history of Ankara and its surroundings. Its extensive library and archives help preserve the city’s memory. We valued the opportunity to share our work at an institution dedicated to researching Ankara’s past and passing its cultural heritage on to future generations.
During the approximately two-hour meeting, we introduced our Foundation and shared information about our activities. We discussed our approach to building bridges between urban and rural communities and presented our work in Halaçlı. Meeting with an institution focused on Ankara’s local history and cultural memory offered a meaningful opportunity to explain the values we seek to keep alive through our Halaçlı initiatives.
For us, meetings between organizations are an important way to share our work and develop communication. We value opportunities for efforts in cultural heritage, local community life, and solidarity to inform one another, while introducing our commitment to volunteerism to a wider audience.
VEKAM also featured the visit on its Instagram account, helping raise awareness of our Foundation and our Halaçlı initiatives. We thank the VEKAM team for hosting us and sharing our visit, and Murat Berkyürek, Gül Aran, and Emel Saral for their participation.
At Tohumluk Foundation, we continue to share our activities and experiences while strengthening connections between urban and rural communities.
