Coming Together at the Lykos Half Marathon in Denizli to Support Sports for Children
DENİZLİ - On Sunday, October 25, 2026, Tohumluk Foundation took part in the second Lykos Half Marathon, hosted by Denizli Metropolitan Municipality. Our volunteers from Denizli, İzmir, and Ankara gathered in Pamukkale to help meet the sports equipment needs of children attending village schools.
Held around the Pamukkale travertines and the ancient city of Hierapolis, the event brought together athletes from 26 countries and thousands of sports enthusiasts. Denizli Metropolitan Mayor Bülent Nuri Çavuşoğlu also attended. Together, we celebrated the ability of sport to connect people from different cities and countries through a shared experience.
Children were at the heart of our participation. Through our “Haydi Çocuklar Spora”—“Let’s Get Children into Sports”—campaign, **207 donors contributed more than TRY 50,000.** The funds raised are intended to provide sports equipment for village school students. Alongside supporting their education, we want to help create more opportunities for children to be active, play together, and discover sports.
We see access to sports equipment as a practical step toward helping children explore their interests and abilities. Supporting environments where they can play together and experience teamwork is central to this effort.
The participation of volunteers from Denizli, İzmir, and Ankara also reflected the connections our Foundation builds across cities. Coming from different places, our volunteers brought a shared commitment to responding to children’s needs. Strengthened by our donors’ contributions, this collective effort marked an important step toward turning volunteer dedication into practical support for children.
We sincerely thank Denizli Metropolitan Municipality for hosting the event, everyone who helped bring us together, our volunteers, and the 207 donors who supported our campaign.
At Tohumluk Foundation, we continue strengthening solidarity between urban and rural communities and taking steps together to support children’s opportunities in education and sport.
