Purpose of the Committee

The Culture and Arts Committee develops projects that contribute to the social, cultural, economic and community development of rural areas, in line with the mission of Tohumluk Foundation. Guided by the belief that rural and urban communities have much to learn from one another, the Committee uses culture and the arts as a bridge between people, places and generations.

Through its cultural and artistic initiatives, the Committee seeks to inspire awareness, encourage creativity and support the personal development of children, young people and women in particular, helping to strengthen their confidence, participation and social inclusion.

The Committee is also committed to preserving and promoting Türkiye’s cultural heritage while fostering cultural exchange between rural and urban communities, both nationally and internationally. It develops projects that advance cultural diplomacy and provides expert guidance to the Board of Directors on matters within its area of responsibility.

Committee Responsibilities

The Committee shall:

  • Develop and implement cultural and artistic projects, events, educational programmes and partnerships that strengthen connections between rural and urban communities.

  • Promote dialogue, creativity and community engagement through the universal language of culture and the arts.

  • Support the Foundation in achieving its mission and strategic objectives through innovative cultural initiatives.

  • Contribute to raising awareness of the Foundation’s vision and mission, strengthening public engagement, increasing support for its activities and attracting new volunteers.

Committee Operations

The Culture and Arts Committee holds two regular meetings each month.

Meeting minutes are prepared by the Committee Secretary and shared with Committee members and the Foundation’s Board of Directors.

The Committee works in close collaboration with the Board of Directors and other relevant committees to coordinate projects and activities.

Its work is carried out primarily through specialized subcommittees, with additional project-specific working groups established whenever necessary.

At each Committee meeting, the progress and outcomes of all subcommittees and working groups are reviewed and evaluated.

Monthly developments are presented by the Committee Chair—or, where appropriate, by a designated Subcommittee Chair—during the Foundation’s monthly meeting of Committee Chairs.

The Committee encourages broad participation from volunteers and subject-matter experts beyond its formal membership and conducts all activities in accordance with the Foundation’s Deed of Foundation, governance documents and internal regulations.
