Purpose of the Committee
In line with the mission and values of Tohumluk Foundation, the Education Committee works to improve both the quality and accessibility of education in rural communities by providing academic, social, cultural, artistic and sports-related support to educational institutions.
The Committee also aims to expand educational opportunities that contribute to the social, cultural and economic development of people living in rural areas.
Committee Responsibilities
The Committee shall:

Identify the needs of schools in rural communities and develop action plans to address those needs.

Establish subcommittees, working groups and project teams to implement approved action plans.

Plan and deliver programmes that support students’ social, emotional and cognitive development.

Organize and coordinate cultural, artistic and sports activities through school clubs and extracurricular programmes.

Assess the needs of students, parents and teachers and organize educational seminars and workshops accordingly.

Collaborate with the Young Tohumluk Committee and the Culture, Arts and Sports Committees in the implementation of educational activities.

Provide supplementary educational resources to students with financial need.

Direct eligible students to the Young Tohumluk Online Learning Platform.

Organize training programmes for volunteers who actively participate in educational projects.

Establish classroom and school libraries to promote reading habits among children.

Work in cooperation with the Fundraising and Social Assistance Committee to secure financial support for schools and students.

Obtain all required permissions and approvals from relevant public authorities before implementing activities in schools.

Identify educational needs that contribute to the social, cultural and economic development of rural communities and coordinate the delivery of appropriate training programmes.

Develop partnerships with public institutions, private organizations and civil society organizations to support educational initiatives.

Provide scholarship opportunities for academically successful students with financial need and prepare the Foundation’s Scholarship Guidelines.

Prepare annual action plans under the coordination of the Chair of the Education Committee. Action plans become effective following approval by the Board of Directors.
Committee Operations
The Education Committee communicates with its members primarily through its designated WhatsApp group.
The Committee meets at least once each month upon the invitation of the Committee Chair. Meeting dates and agendas are shared in advance with Committee members and the Board of Directors.
Minutes of every meeting are prepared by the Committee Secretary and distributed to Committee members and the Board of Directors.
Committee decisions are advisory in nature. Recommendations become effective only after approval by the Board of Directors.
To carry out its responsibilities efficiently, the Committee may establish subcommittees, working groups and project teams, assigning responsibilities according to the annual work plan.
Separate meetings may also be organized with active field volunteers and members of subcommittees whenever necessary.
The Terms of Reference of the Education Committee shall be reviewed annually. Any proposed amendments shall be submitted to the Board of Directors for approval.
